When we watch TV or look at magazines, we are inundated with images of strong, muscular bodies with perfect six pack abs. Because we see them so much, it’s easy to think that that’s the standard of beauty. And they are beautiful.
Looking at someone who is so fit and healthy that they have perfect ab muscles is pleasing to us. But that doesn’t mean they are for everyone. From the best diet to get six pack abs to the best ab exercises, we are constantly looking for ways to improve our bodies. This is an admirable goal, but are six packs for you?
You see commercials all the time with the promise of how to get six pack abs. If it were simple, everyone would have them. They make it seem like the best ab exercises or diet they are promoting will give you instant success. For most, though, there is no simple solution on how to get six pack abs. Having toned and strong abs requires that you work to build muscle over your entire body.
You can’t spot train (the idea that you can target one area of your body and tone it). This doesn’t work. You first need to lose body fat all over. If you have really strong ab muscles, but they’re covered with a layer of fat, that doesn’t exactly give you the look you want. So achieving the best abs for you means that you have to do cardio, strength, and flexibility training for your whole body.
Keep in mind that what you eat is important as well. Though there is no one best diet to get six pack abs. Eating healthy, low-fat, low-calorie foods will help you get the best body you can have.
How long will it take to form a six pack? It depends on you. If you’ve been exercising for years and haven’t seen the flat washboard stomach you want yet, it may be that your body isn’t made like that. Genetics play a part in how you look and how your body is shaped. Some people just don’t have the genetics to get a six pack. That doesn’t mean that they have to have flabby stomachs; it just means that the goal of a model-perfect six pack stomach may be unrealistic.
And as unfair as this may seem, getting a six pack for women is even harder. Women’s bodies are made to accommodate a layer of fat and a little curve in the stomach area. This is biological, and many of us cannot do anything about it. All the exercise, training, and dieting would not help some women get six packs.
Doing the best ab exercises and getting the best abs you can is a great goal, and one that you should not give up on. Exercise and good diet are so important in a healthy life. The truth about six pack abs though, is that they might not be for your body. It’s like a woman who is 5’2” wanting to be 5’7”. Yes, it would be nice, but it’s not what your body has been made to do. The same is true of six packs. You can be fit, healthy, and attractive without a six pack.
Abdominal exercise is great when combined with cardio, you can really improve the look and feel of your body. Having a strong core allows you to have better posture, less back pain, better balance, and even more confidence.
It is so important to have a healthy body. If yours isn’t made for a six pack, don’t worry. Doing the workouts will still make you look and feel great. Letting go of the ideal abs can free up your mind and help you feel better about yourself. You can have the perfect body with exercise and diet – the perfect body for you.
